The Overland Park City Council voted 10-2 to approve the expansion for the roadway, which the Kansas Department of Transportation estimates is used by roughly 80,000 drivers daily between West 103rd and West 197th streets, with the toll-lane included.
In an effort to reduce congestion along U.S. 69 Highway, the Kansas Department of Transportation – along with the city of Overland Park – is looking at ways to expand the highway from 103rd to 179th Street.
A majority of respondents to a Kansas Department of Transportation survey said they would use an express toll lane on U.S. 69 Highway to avoid congestion, according to a findings report released Monday.
